Miss Beebs and I...

are trying to decide how we want to paint this table.  This table is about fifty years old and I use it next to my comfy chair in my studio/nest.  We know we want to paint it Country White, but we can't decide if we want to add a handpainted graphic to the top or not.  The top is covered most of the time with my lamp, telephone and basket of necessary goodies...so we are thinking just a plain top.  What do you think?

Where does the time go...

It's been a while since I posted.  The weather warmed and called me outside.  I have been deweeding my flowerbeds, getting rid of some plants, putting down weed barrier, top soil and mulch.  This time I am simplifying for real.  Those forty pound bags of top soil are not helping the torn ligament in my right arm, but I am on a mission!  I am also cleaning out and clearing out.  Our poor home has been neglected for many years while I was crafting and creating on a daily basis.  It's time for a change and long overdue.  Poppa (80) and me (72) are not getting any younger and we are finding it harder and harder to do things that we took for granted when we were younger.  Older age is not for the faint of heart.  Digging in the dirt is good for the soul and helps to put a lot of things in perspective.  Replacing the rat race with just BEING and ENJOYING is delightful.  I do find time for some needlework and Miss Beebs is a big help.



Under Day Bed Storage

I have been working in my studio/nest since January, redoing, reorganizing, painting furniture and just general mayhem.  I purchased four Rubbermaid canvas underbed storage zippered containers online from WalMart.  I LOVE them and they fit nicely under my Day Bed.  They are labeled and hold Fabric, Utility Fabric, Sewing Notions/Ribbon/Twine and Tools.  So far I have unearthed two large bins of UNFINISHED DOLLS, and three large boxes of my sketches and patterns dating back to the 1980's.  Holy Moly and I still have more digging out to do...

One more time...

2013 was my year to simplify. I did remove myself from some situations but I must admit that I got sidetracked, again, the first part of the year. Now I'm back on track and I am spending this summer and probably the rest of this year working on our home. It feels good to be dedicated to home again instead of the endless doll designs and related activities that were running around in my head. I'm beginning to enjoy puttering in the kitchen again and even the yard and weed duty is more enjoyable now.

Recently I repaired my poor comfy chair that our Sassy Alice had chewed up three times. Once it was repaired, our new Miss Beebs decided to call my chair her own. Needless to say, the repair job was very tempting to her scratching nesting habit. Today, I *patched* my chair one more time. If this does not work, a new recliner is in order...but I oh so love my comfy chair...

Rainy Days...

We love rainy days.  They are great days to be creative.

Sassy Alice

Our Sassy Alice has been with us two years yesterday.  She has grown into a big girl, 85-90 pounds.  She was only three months old when we adopted her from TAILS in Grand Saline.  She was our *Chewing Monster from Hell* until about four months ago.  She chewed up my comfy recliner, throw pillows, our towels, got things off of the cabinet in the kitchen and bathroom, pulled up my rose bushes and small trees by the roots.  Nothing was safe from her constantly roving eyes.  She has turned into a marvelous watch dog.  Any thing that moves catches her attention which is good when you live in the country.  From humans, to snakes, to scorpions, she is constantly on guard protecting us.  She is a delighteful addition to our family.

Combining Heart & Home

Our Sassy is growing into a sweet young lady...still a chewing monster from hell, but not as frequently as before. She will be one year old next month. She has *chewed* her way into our hearts, demolished some of our home and gardens, but all in all she has been a wonderful additon to our family. Our adventures in remodeling will be coming soon. Feathering our nest, remodeling and enjoying our daily simple life...
