A Sweet Week...

We had some nice warm days and some nice cool, rainy days this past week.  I am tickled that by just working in small increments of time I was able to get all of the flowerbeds in front of our house cleaned out and some of my Elephant Ears transplanted into another bed.  The goal for this coming week is to start working on all of the flowerbeds out by our driveway.  Some new rose bushes may be in the plan.

The cool windy rainy days allowed for curling up in my comfy chair and finishing a second twisted crochet afghan to go with a His & Hers set and also to start on a new knitted project.  It has been a while since I knitted but once I got started it was like I had never left.  I also found some time to do another free motion machine embroidery doodle.  It will probably be a pillow front for the daybed sofa that now resides in the living room.  I'll leave that story for another post.

Grateful for Sinks and Socks and Such...

Our kitchen drain and our washing machine drain are connected.  The water had been draining slower and slower until it came to a screeching halt about two weeks ago.  So, we have been basically *camping out* in our own home for two weeks until us *do it yourselfers* got the problem solved.  It took two and a half days of digging and repairs, but I am a happy camper again.  Have you hugged your kitchen sink and washing machine lately?

While I had all of the *stuff* out from under our kitchen sink, I decided to paint inside the cabinet and put down vinyl tile on the bottom of the cabinet.  Another project marked off my to do list!

I also added a French Market Bag to my utility room to hold onions and potatoes

I am happy to report that I am half finished with the mate to the other gray sock from last week's post. Half finished in only one week!  I hope the other half goes as fast and won't take two years to finish.

On the mend...

I love to hear the rustle of the wind in the dried leaves on our trees...and the gentle rain as it begins to fall also makes a wonderful sound.  These days have me cozy inside and hopefully finishing up some long overdue projects.

Today I finished knitting *a sock* that I started a couple of years ago and then got sidetracked.  I sincerely hope it will not take me another two years to finish it's mate!  Do you have unfinished projects?

My arm is healing and I'm on the mend.  Thank you all for your well wishes.

In my spare time...

It's been a while since I knitted any thing other than socks and dish cloths.  I am working on a shrug made using Vana White's Sequins yarn.  I am loving this yarn and the way this piece is coming together.  Simple and elegant!

Holding my breath...

When I purchase yarn for knitting socks, I always purchase two small skeins because one is not enough to make a pair of socks. I have yarn left over when I finish knitting the pair. I wondered if the left over yarn would be enough to make a pair of footies. As you can tell by the above picture, I had a piece of yarn about 18 inches long left over! Whoa, that was cutting it close! I was beginning to think I might have to piece the toe...but all's well that ends well.....

A good day to curl up and knit...

It is cold and partly cloudy outside, homemade chicken soup is simmering on the stove, so this is a perfect day to curl up and knit. I put the finishing stitches on a pair of Firecracker Red socks and I now I need to start the second sock in the Plum Tweed to match my new pajamas I received for my birthday. For some reason, the second sock is always harder to start. It takes me a month or more to knit a pair of socks because I just do a few rounds in my spare time. Handknitted socks are a good *warm* thing!
